Having such a rich and long history, gives Ballarat an edge of
intrigue and allure. Behind every building there's a story that's
been waiting to be told or a character who helped give the City
it's own unique personality.
Ballarat is filled with stunning physical marks of its full and
fascinating past, through the grand old buildings we frequent every
day. However, when you sip your coffee at your favourite cafe or
stare at the four walls of your office, have you ever pondered what
stories lie behind the walls, or what quirky characters inhabited
the space when it was originally built?
Cure your curiosities and immerse yourself in the intriguing at
the 2016 Ballarat Heritage Weekend. Held over the Mother's Day
weekend (7-8 May 2016), this free event will celebrate Ballarat's
more peculiar past, with the theme of 'Curiouser and Curiouser'.
Think steampunk and steam trains, quirky stories from the past,
frivolous fashion and speakeasy style.
Weird and wacky contraption demonstrations, unique vintage car
displays and special performances will bring the streets to life!
Enjoy live music, adventurous new food and beverage experiences and
