Hymettus Cottage & Garden
8 Cardigan Street, Lake Wendouree
This privately-owned cottage was named after the winner of the 1898 Caulfield Cup after being purchased on sweepstake winnings. The simple workman's cottage is a rare survivor of its era, retaining much of its early décor.
The property is celebrated because the original layout of the awardwinning cottage garden, which bought the home to prominence in 1915-1918, has been carefully preserved.
Both the cottage and garden were listed on the Register of the National Estate in 1988. Make the most of this rare opportunity to have a guided tour of this magnificent cottage and garden.
