Spend the afternoon at the Mining Exchange enjoying a magnificent historical photographic display, selected from the Ballarat Historical Society’s collection of more than 5000 images.

The Society was founded in 1933 and has links to the first generations of settlers that helped develop Ballarat. Take in evocative images of Ballarat from 1870 – 1990, early streetscapes, grand old buildings and fascinating faces, and come away with a sense of the city’s golden past.

Don’t miss the illustrated presentation by Roger Trudgeon, Manager, Ballarat Gold Museum on how the development of the great gold city of Ballarat was recorded using the latest technology of the day - the photograph.
